NEWSPAPERS ONLINE
Some newspapers provide online archives of their major stories, at least. A site called Newspaper Archives on the Web, maintained at the University of North Carolina, provides links to the main web-page of several major American newspapers and a separate link to those papers' archives. Some papers require a registration before you can do a search through their "morgue" (the Hartford Courant, for instance) and sometimes that registration can be expensive, either on a one-time basis or per retrieval basis.
