Student Leadership and Programs
Capital Community College offers students numerous opportunities to develop their leadership skills, grow as individuals, or learn about a new field or hobby for the pure enjoyment of it. Student clubs, societies and organizations enable students to plan, coordinate, market, sponsor and evaluate activities and projects. Enhancement of skills and training is available to all student leaders in campus workshops, and joint leadership sessions designed for the Community College System bring student leaders together from across the state.

Membership in student organizations is open to all enrolled students. Some clubs and organizations are created from the various disciplines and majors, such as:
Other clubs and organizations grow out of particular interests and needs and derive their goals and objectives out of the consensus of the membership. Examples of these clubs include:
- Black Student Union
- Campus Ministry
- Chess Club
- International Club
- Latin American Student Association (LASA)
- Martial Arts Club
- Philosophy Club
- Pre-Professional Club
- Women 's Club
Newly revised is the opportunity to sing in a gospel choir," The Capital Messengers." The choir is comprised of Capital students, staff and community musicians.
Other organizations are chapters of national groups and include the following:
- Society of Black Engineers
Networking opportunities, scholarships and
mentoring for technical students in all fields
- NAACP
Promotes equality and legal remedies for
violations of constitutional rights
- Alpha Beta Gamma
National honor society for students in two-year
college pursuing a degree in business; a
Quality Point Average of 3.0 for a minimum of
12 credits earned is qualification for
membership
- Phi Theta Kappa
National honorary fraternity in two-year
colleges that recognizes high scholastic
achievement; to be eligible for membership a
student must achieve and maintain a Quality
Point Average of 3.5 for a minimum of 12
credits earned

Student government, representing all students, works to foster high morale and a spirit of cooperation among students, staff and faculty. The Student Senate establishes rules and regulations concerning student sponsored activities and clubs. Student clubs, publications, and other co-curricular activities are supported by the Student Senate and Student Activity Funds are allotted by this body to requesting individuals or groups who satisfy guidelines.
