Dr. Joan R. Griffin, Website Coordinator at Metropolitan State College of Denver, Colorado has given us permission to link to her guide on word processing, part of A Research Writer's Guide. Griffin's guide has directions for the basic skills necessary in using Microsoft Word and Microsoft Word Perfect. Other word processing programs are alike enough in basics that these directions would prove helpful regardless of the program.
Questions about word processing programs need to be addressed to the creators of whatever program is being used (the user's instruction manual) or to the lab assistants in your computer lab. For the purposes of Sentence Sense, students need to be able to create new files, save files, and do simple editing functions that require highlighting, cutting, pasting, and deleting.
