10.8 Final -ed: Avoiding Incorrect -ed Endings

Instructions

On the space provided after each sentence, complete a new sentence which contains a two-word verb string using one of the auxiliaries listed below and the base form of the italicized verb.

The Auxiliaries:
  • will, shall
  • can, could
  • would, should
  • may, might, must
  • do, does, did

Example: She arrived in plenty of time.
Your answer could be: She should arrive in plenty of time.

1. My children saved their outgrown baseball cleats.
    
2. They collected several years' worth.
    
3. Then they lined them up on a table.
    
4. They talked about them with their friends.
