(English-As-A-Second Language) Testing

• ALL new students must take BASIC SKILLS PLACEMENT TESTS prior to registration for classes. The results are used to place students into appropriate courses.

• Non-native speakers of English who do not have English language proficiency are encouraged to take the ESL (ENGLISH-as-a-SECOND LANGUAGE) PLACEMENT TEST. ESL placement testing sessions include an explanation of program admissions, a writing requirement, and a computerized test.


• Placement Testing takes place in Room 220, 2nd floor. For the ESL Placement Test, report first to room 408, 4th floor. Appointments are NOT made for the tests; entrance is on a first-come, first-served basis, on the dates below.


• To prepare for the tests, visit or call the Academic Success Center on the 4th floor of the College, 860-906-5200. Please come prepared to take test.


• Report to Room 220 at least 30-60 minutes before testing begins (refer to dates and times below) - space is limited, first come, first served.


• Bring with you:
  1. Your banner ID number (Student ID #)
  2. A picture ID
  3. A pen and pencil
  Scratch paper will be provided; NO CALCULATORS are allowed. Permission from Dean Doris Arrington is required to retake the tests.
