Windows Vista or Windows 7, with...

  • Internet Explorer 8 or 9
  • Firefox 8.x or higher
  • Java 1.6.0_x

Regarding Windows 8 and Internet Explorer 10...

Windows 8 and Internet Explorer 10, released by Microsoft on October 26th, have not yet been certified as compatible with Blackboard Learn. There are no indications from Blackboard that users will have major problems with these updates at this time, but it would be prudent for students and faculty using Blackboard to avoid upgrading, if possible, during the middle of a semester. Blackboard will soon be evaluating the use of Windows 8 and IE10 with Blackboard Learn, and results of their tests will be included here.

  • Safari 5.x
  • Firefox 8.x or higher
  • Java 1.5.0_x

Hardware and System Settings for Windows or Mac

  • 10 GB free hard drive space with 256 MB RAM
  • 1024x768 recommended screen resolution

  • Soundcard and speakers or headphones, maybe a microphone
  • DSL or cable modem (no dial-up)

  • Networking Port 2304 must be open for Chat/Whiteboard functions
