Associate in Science Degree Program
Computer and Information Systems
This Program is designed to provide students with the basic knowledge of computers and the skills of programming in various programming languages, such as COBOL, Visual BASIC, and C. The student has considerable exposure to personal computers and many of the major application areas associated with personal computers including spreadsheets, word-processing, databases, operating systems, the Internet, networking, etc.
Upon completion, students will be better prepared for an entry-level position, advancement in their current position, or transfer to a four-year program.

| Learning Outcomes |

Upon successful completion of all program requirements, graduates will be able to:
- Demonstrate sufficient understanding of information technology for entry-level employment and advancement in the field
- Demonstrate an understanding of the fundamentals of computers and computer nomenclature and why they are essential components in
business and society
- Demonstrate proficiency in utilizing and integrating business-oriented computer software programs such as Microsoft Word, Excel, and PowerPoint
- Demonstrate the ability to communicate clearly and appropriately, both orally and in writing
- Display professional readiness to meet the needs of the business community, including, but not limited to, time management, organizational, teamwork, and decision-making skills
- Demonstrate an ability to navigate and utilize the World Wide Web as both an educational and career-related tool
- Demonstrate the ability to successfully code, compile, execute, and debug programs in various programming languages
- Demonstrate an understanding of basic programming and logic, through the use of flow charts and pseudocode
- Differentiate and apply the concepts of structured and unstructured programming
- Demonstrate programming skills with Object Orientated and fourth generation programming languages
- Demonstrate the ability to use software tools for program development
- Demonstrate a basic understanding of relational databases and concepts, including design, creation, and data manipulation
- Develop a portfolio consisting of projects including, but not limited to: COBOL, Visual Basic, C, Java and Access
