Web Publishing
This certificate prepares students to work in a variety of settings including private consulting, medium sized businesses, large corporations, schools and colleges. The profession involves creating a presence on the World Wide Web of the Internet with sophisticated Home Pages and WWW business support features, including artistic design, acquisition of customer data, audio and video conferencing, e-mail, and streaming video and audio.
The emphasis is on Web page design using advanced HTML and scripting languages such as JavaScript and CGI as well as Web authoring tools such as Microsoft FrontPage, Adobe PageMaker, and others.
This is a very high growth profession, as nearly every company will want
to have a presence on the World Wide Web and/or conduct e-commerce in the near future.

Upon successful completion of all program requirements, graduates will be able to:
- Demonstrate an understanding of the fundamentals of computers and computer nomenclature and why they are essential components in business and society
- Demonstrate a basic understanding of the Internet and e-commerce
- Differentiate and employ various ways to develop web pages, including HTML, scripting languages, DHTML, XML, and Web authoring software
- Demonstrate an ability to plan and create a presence on the World Wide Web with elements such as lists, hyperlinks, tables, frames, forms, email, conferencing, and video and audio streaming
- Demonstrate an understanding of good web site design principles, including cross-platform issues, colors and fonts, multimedia, online resources, and web writing guidelines
- Demonstrate an understanding of programming rules and concepts, including, syntax, objects, functions, variables, events, and methods, as they relate to web site development
- Develop a portfolio consisting of both basic and professional web projects using comprehensive concepts and skills
