Online Learning Courses Require...
-
Organization and Dedication:
Successful students will spend more time - not less - than a traditional on-campus class.
-
Equal Attention as an on-campus course:
Online learning courses can be fun, exciting, challenging, convenient and enriching, for the prepared student.
-
Good Computer and Internet Skills:
Students are expected to have effective skills in word processing, uploading and downloading files, spreadsheets, presentations, email attachments, discussion/bulletin boards, and internet research. Some courses may require additional skills in loading and/or using specific software on your computer.
-
Active Participation:
Students must ask questions or find the necessary help to succeed in the course.

Considering an online class?
Ask Yourself ...
-
"Do I create a routine and stick to it?"
Some students may neglect online learning courses because of personal or professional circumstances.
-
"Do I prefer the independence of online learning courses?"
Some students may find it uncomfortable in a "virtual" environment.
-
"Do I prefer the flexibility of scheduling my time?"
Some students may excel with this flexibility; others have difficulty with this greater freedom. The instructor will not "track you down" for assignments; it's all up to you.
-
"Do I prefer interacting with others?"
Face-to-face interaction with fellow students and the instructor is replaced by email, live chat rooms, or online discussions.
-
"Do I prefer self-direction?" The online student is self-directed and comfortable following written instructions and procedures.
-
"Do I take responsibility for contacting the instructor with questions/problems?"
It's up to you to initiate communication and contact the instructor about your learning.
